Principal’s Desk

Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man. We want that education, by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one’s own feet. The end of all education, all training, should be man-making. The end and aim of all training is to make the man grow. The training, by which the current and expression of will are brought under control and become fruitful, is called education.

Dear Students,

“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of mind to think” —Albert Einstein

With this motto in my heart and mind I welcome the new batch of students to join the family of Sammilani Mahavidyalaya. The college started its journey way back in 1996 and is affiliated to the University of Calcutta, has just crossed 25 years of meaningful existence. All these years the institution has imparted education to the students, so that they do not merely get information but can shape their life for a sustainable existence in the society.

After a period of two years of pandemic with scary uncertainty and unprecedented turn of events, I am extremely happy to greet the fresh batch of students to the college campus. It is a matter of great pride that we could overcome the challenges and get ready for our fresh batch of students. The entire family of Sammilani Mahavidyalaya – the teachers, staff and the existing students deserve a special mention for making it possible.

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya aims at holistic development of its students. Apart from thorough teaching of the prescribed syllabus of the affiliating University, the college also encourages extracurricular activities which are extremely important for overall development of the young minds.

The teachers, apart from conventional teaching tools adopt innovative means of teaching and learning. There is an immense scope of upgradation for the students not only on the academic front but also activities related to real life experiences and projects. For overall exposure and development there are several committees headed by the teachers and the staff of the college. The college also organises several events related to sports, seminars, interactive sessions with other institutions and cultural activities. The students are always encouraged to participate in these collaborative events so that they can become confident young adults.

With the beginning of another academic session for a batch of fresh dreamers I am hopeful that Sammilani Mahavidyalaya will pave the way for our students who will make us proud. Hard work, effort and persistence will help the students to realise their potential and aspiration. At this juncture I sincerely greet all parents who have chosen us for guiding their wards, put their belief in us and entrusted us with this responsibility. It is also my earnest plea to them to allow their children to learn with a free mind and soul and not to burden them with the pressure of academic battles of life.

As the institutional head of Sammilani Mahavidyalaya, I extend my heartfelt greetings to our faculty members, staff, students and their families, and all our well-wishers. I sincerely believe and hope that the college will continue to be at its best, as has always been, in imparting good education which is a foundation for a better future.

However the onus is on us to preserve the lamp of fame and glory of our beloved institution.
